Guide
Underkeep has a built-in automap with custom markers. Use it as a record of unanswered questions: note locked doors, suspicious walls, clues and places to revisit. The steps below are a spoiler-light exploration method, not a floor-by-floor map or a set of confirmed puzzle solutions.
Mark a lead you cannot resolve
The developer specifically describes notes for suspicious walls, unfinished business and places to revisit. When you leave a marker, write a short reminder of what stopped you: a locked door, a symbol, or a missing clue. Returning later is easier when the marker contains the reason, not just the location.
Check the environment and map together
The Steam store confirms hidden alcoves, fake walls and optional encounters. A release review recommends checking unusual unexplored edges and trying suspicious walls or bushes. Treat a suspicious area as a lead rather than a guaranteed secret: the review is a player's observation and does not identify a verified location for every wall.
The September demo update says nearby visible enemies could appear on the minimap and that item highlighting was added. Those are demo-era details; check your current settings and interface before relying on them in the full release.
When a puzzle or quest stalls
- Record the clue and the room where you found it. Note any related inscription or object in your own words.
- Explore other accessible routes and mark anything that looks related.
- Return after finding a new clue or opening a new area. A release reviewer reports that some puzzles and quests require progress or information from elsewhere.
- Keep an alternative save if you want to revisit a decision. The game includes a save system, but the sources reviewed do not establish a universal solution or consequence for every puzzle.
What this guide does not map
There is not yet enough cross-checked material here for exact floor layouts, secret-wall coordinates, puzzle sequences or boss rewards. For now, use the in-game map and the beginner guide; the Steam store and developer announcements describe the underlying exploration systems.
